Change the Welcome Screen:

You can change two things in the Welcome Screen and that is your profile picture and apply a software to change the background image. Follow the given steps:
  • Start->Control Panel->User account
  • Click the Change your picture link.
  • Select a picture from the default Windows 7 pictures, or click the Browse button for more picture links and navigate to an image of your own to use instead.
  • Click the Change Picture button.
To change background image, follow the given steps:
  • Start button-> enter 'regedit' into the Search bar. Right-click Regedit.exe> click Run as administrator.
  • Right click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and select Find.
  • Search for OEMBackground, which should be in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background. If the key does not exist, add a new DWORD value with the name OEMBackground.
  • Double-click on the entry OEMBackground, and change the value from 0 to 1.
  • Open Windows Explorer and go to the following path: %windir%\system32\oobe.
  • Create a new folder named Info, and open it.
  • Create a new folder within Info named backgrounds.
  • Rename your desired wallpaper as backgroundDefault.jpg and place it inside the folder backgrounds (images must be less than 245KB in size).

 

Change The Windows Theme:

  • To change windows 7 theme: Right-click the desktop and select Personalize.
  • Choose the default theme or browse the theme from online. And Apply it.

 

Create A Custom Desktop Slideshow:

  • Right-click desktop-> Personalize-> Desktop Background

Move the taskbar:

Click an empty space on the taskbar, and then hold down the mouse button as you drag the taskbar to one of the four edges of the desktop. When the taskbar is where you want it, release the mouse button.

How to Disable Hibernation in Windows 7 using Command Line

Hibernate was designed to speed up shut downs and restarts and save power in computers. When you activate Hibernate, Windows takes a snap shot of your current session (all your running programs, open files, etc.) and writes that information to your hard drive. However, the feature uses hard drive space equal to the amount of memory installed on the machine to use. Thus you can disable the Hibernate feature in your computer. Follow the given steps to disable Hibernation mode in Windows 7 using Command Prompt.

  •  Close the registry editor, and then restart your PC.

Step3: Here is another option, if step2 cannot solve this problem then start computer in safe mode and run the system restore.
  • Shut down computer and again restart and press F8 repeatedly.
  • From Advanced Boot Options screen, choose Safe Mode and then press Enter. Now run the System Restore.
  • Go to "Start" menu >click "Programs"> click "Accessories"> Click "System Tools."
  • Click “System Restore". This action will bring up a system-restore window.
  • Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time"> Click “Next".
  • Follow the on-screen option and complete the process.

  • Select the "Tools" tab at the top of the dialog box and then click "Check now" in the Error-checking field. Check the box to the left of "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." Make sure the box next to "Automatically fix file system errors" is unchecked.
  • Click "Start" to check for disk errors. When the program has completed its error checking, it will indicate whether you have any disk errors. If the program detects errors, click "Fix Errors." If the program doesn't detect errors, click "Close" to close the program.
Step7: Scan your system for viruses, spyware and adware by using a Trusted Antivirus Software.

Make Windows 7 Bootable USB
Now you can create Windows 7 Bootable USB and install it through a USB drive. USB installation method is very helpful when you are unable to use the Windows 7 setup DVD / CD. In the latest netbooks, mostly there is no DVD drive. So if you want to install Windows, you can use this alternative i.e. USB Pen drive. The given steps will help you make a Windows 7 bootable USB drive.

Step1: From the Start menu, click on Run.  Type cmd in Run box and press Enter.

Step2: Type diskpart like ‘c:\> diskpart’ and press Enter. It will run diskpart utility in a separate window.

Step3: Connect your pendrive to a USB port. Your pendrive should have 4GB or 8GB space for that matter. Now go back to the diskpart console and type ‘listdisk’ and press Enter (DISKPART>list disk). This will list the various storage devices available. You can see the disk and size column of the disk. Disk will define your pendrive, it may be Disk 1 or Disk 2 or any number.

Step4: Select your pendrive disk and press Enter. You can also see the details of the disk. To check the details of the disk just type ‘detail disk’.

Step5: Now you have to run a series of commands in the following order:
-clean
- create partition primary
- select partition 1
- active
- format fs=fat32

Step6: The above steps will take some time and format your pen drive. After completing the format, you have to run ‘assign’ and ‘exit’ command.

Step7: After completing the all above steps, put in your original Windows 7 DVD in your DVD drive. Now go to My Computer, and open the contents of DVD Drive. Copy all the contents of DVD drive and paste into the USB disk.

Step8: Now remove the USB drive safely and use it install windows 7 on your computer or laptop.
